Love this. I, too have a Harlow wire-mother piece! I’ve sat on it for 2 and a half years now, something just not feeling quite right about it. So naturally, I was very intrigued when I saw the title in my notifications this morning.

Your comparison of the experiment to tech addiction vs. actual experience is SO fitting. Reading this came at at such a great time for me: I’m turning 30 in a week and have felt depressed about it, thinking about how much of my 20s I’ve spent passively... including staring at a screen. Thank you for a cool bit of synchronicity to help get me back on track.

Thanks Madeline! And I know you won't believe this until next week, but turning 30 is the best! This "review" showed up in my feed recently and it made me laugh: https://www.newyorker.com/humor/daily-shouts/i-tried-turning-thirty-so-you-dont-have-to-honest-review
